Project: NEED and IDEA. Insects

You already know that the project for this course is going to be a robot. Juan (another technologies teacher) has been working hard in a prototype and now we got it. It works!. So now, we have to begin our process step by step.

NEED
Our first need is to design a COSTUME for the robot. We, the teachers, have analysed the need or problem and we have agreed to construct an INSECT. So, the first thing you have to do is to STUDY INSECTS, their anatomy, types of insects, colors, shapes...

Insect anatomy scheme, by Piotr Jaworski, PioM; 17 V 2005r., POLAND{{cc-by-sa-2.0}}

Parts of an insect.:
- Head
- Thorax
- Abdomen
1  - Antenna
4  - Compound eye
11- First wing
12- Second wing
23- Tarsus
24- Tibia
25- Femur
26- Trochanter

IDEA
In this stage you will have to propose one or several solutions and begin thinking about materials. Your team will have to agree and choose the best solution to be built.

    1. No, Ignacio. Where were you when I was explaining the task? Sketches, you have to do sketches of insects. The anatomy scheme was to explain the main parts of an insect.

    4. You have to do sketches, so, I think it will be a good idea to draw 3, 4 or 5 sketches in one sheet of paper. If you drew only one sketch it would be a huge insect and you don't know so much about it to be able to draw so many details.

    5. 4 or 5 papers and 4 or 5 skethes in each paper, so you will have more or less 20 sketches. That doesn't mean 20 different insects, because you can draw the same insect from different point of view, different size, only a part of it bigger...

    1. Only one face. Some of your sketches will be part of the final project so you have to be able to cut them off without destroying others.

    1. When you draw an insect, you will see that it has head, thorax, abdomen, 2 antennas, 6 legs and 2 wings. So, you will have to draw them, unless they are not visible (for example in a butterfly, ladybug...).

  6. You will find in PLASTINGLISH an optional task for you:
