Parallel and perpendicular lines

How do we use the set squares?
You have to handle your set square softly and with accuracy without too much pressure on them, only the needed one to avoid movement.

PARALLEL LINES
  1. The 45 set square hypotenuse (longest side) is placed attached to the line to which we want to draw the parallels (GUIDE).
  2. The 60-30 set square hypotenuse is attached to the 45 set square leg.
  3. Fix the 60-30 set square and move the 45 set square upwards or downwards drawing the desired parallel lines along its hypotenuse.
PERPENDICULAR LINES

If we want to draw perpendicular lines to one direction, we will have to follow the first two steps as stated for parallel lines and then the following ones:
  1. Having fixed the 60-30 set square, the 45 set square is turned until the other leg is attached to the hypotenuse of the 60-30 set square.
  2. Draw the perpendicular line along the hypotenuse of the 45 set square.

Let's review how to draw parallel and perpendicular lines using the triangular set squares.

Eva A., 1st A (former student) recorded, some years ago, a video at home for us. It is GREAT!!!!
Thank you very much Eva.

Let´s sketch!

Sketching! on PhotoPeach

Technical Drawing: Sketch-Draft-Drawing

  • Sketch is a rapidly executed freehand drawing often consisting of a multitude of overlapping lines that is not intended as a finished work.
  • Draft is an early version of a drawing with dimmensions.
  • Plans are the final version of drawings of objects with all the information needed to be built or constructed.

  • Bocetos
  • Croquis
  • Planos

VOCABULARY TASK
  • Vocabulary exercises 1, 2 and 3. Just in case you need a new copy. Use links above to complete the exercises. Common office equipment is not in these pages, so do it by yourself or search on the Internet (I think they are only 3 or 4 items). Please, only short and easy descriptions, remember you have to learn them.

Paper sizes

  • The International Standard ISO 216 (International Organization for Standardization), sets out the common paper sizes used around the world.
  • 161 countries from around the world are members of the organisation.
  • The metric system of paper and card sizes are shown below.
  • All ‘A’ sizes are double the previous size, with A0 being the largest.
  • Paper types and weight: origin, weight, color and thickness. - g/m2 -

  • Paper sizes tasks.. Pages 2 and 3 should be done in your notebooks. Haremos las páginas 2 y 3.
  • REALIA: Craft Practice Using sheets of paper (A4). Create A3, A2, A1, A5, A6, A7... formats.
